4. You know why England cannot win? Because in every World Cup they have been in, their pundits, supporters, players and coach want to avoid the big Nations at all cost. It is a given, they look at the draw and they hope that a dark horse will knock out their boogie teams and the favourites. They always seem to look at a way they could avoid danger and to be fair in 2018 their first serious encounter (Croatia) came late in the tournament (semis) and ended in a logical defeat. Then they went on playing Belgium for 3rd place and it also ended in defeat. A team that has the potential to win the World Cup is a team that is not afraid of playing the best Nations, even more they want to play the best Nations because to be the best you have to beat the best so it does not matter if you have to play Argentina or Brazil in the quarter, you know you will have to beat them at some point, you might as well do it early on. England does not have this attitude. In 2018, England was praying to avoid Brazil and they got Sweden because Belgium played the game and did not calculate. Belgium went on beating Brazil in the quarter and then when Croatia beat England (England's first hurdle to their free pass) before Belgium beat England for 3rd place and deservedly so. Belgium was not afraid to play Brazil, France is not afraid to play Brazil or Argentina but England is. In my view this is what always set the true contenders apart from England.
