A bustling scandal happened during the 2022 World Cup qualifier between the national teams of Brazil and Argentina. The Sao Paulo police with representatives of the National Health Monitoring Agency of the country tried to detain four players of the guests right on the pitch – Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendía, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero. It turned out that the players provided inaccurate data while entering Brazil. All four play for English clubs, but reported that they haven’t visited the UK. Thus, Argentinian players tried to bypass the 14-day quarantine that is in force in Brazil for persons arriving from Albion. The fight was stopped in the 6th minute and was never finished. The Argentineans left the pitch in protest. The fate of the match will have to be decided by FIFA.
