Atletico may ship Griezmann back to Barca to sign Ronaldo
Atletico Madrid may look towards offloading a big player to sign and pay Cristiano Ronaldo this season. That big star is likely to be Antoine Griezmann, as per Marca. As you may already know, Griezmann is on a two-year loan deal at Atleti from Barcelona. That means Los Rojiblancos will likely terminate their pact with Barca and send him back to Camp Nou. And let’s not forget the ‘small matter’ of Atleti having to pay 40 million to Barca at the end of Griezmann’s 2-year loan if they want to keep him. On the one hand, Griezou could be loaned to some other club by Atleti, with consent from Barcelona if the latter does not want him back. Jorge Mendes is pressing to take Ronaldo to a Champions League club even if it means playing one season on loan at Atleti. For Griezmann, that’s bad news, unless Simeone says no to Ronaldo to save Griezou’s bacon.
Barca ready to loan De Jong out
Barcelona are still bent on offloading Frenkie de Jong, Diario Sport claims. The Catalans have come up with a new solution – they are ready to let the Dutchman leave on loan. Among the clubs that could be interested are Chelsea and Bayern Munich. An important detail is that Blaugrana want a mandatory €80m buy clause included in the loan agreement. The potential loan deal would allow Barca to write off his high wages for the season. At the moment, Barcelona has an agreement with Manchester United over the transfer of De Jong. Frenkie, however, remains opposed to the move. His priority is to continue at Camp Nou.
